A new commercial subdivision required a municipally compliant stormwater management facility, and the developable area left for it was tight. The concept pond footprint consumed land the client had allocated to lots.
We modelled the contributing catchment under pre- and post-development conditions and tested outlet configurations against the 1:100 year design storm. Reshaping the pond geometry and revising the outlet control allowed the same detention volume and release rate to be achieved in a smaller plan area.
The design reduced the pond footprint by 12% against the concept and was approved on first submission, which held the development schedule.
